Mark your calendars. The virtual convention dedicated to strategy gaming is back for its third edition, taking place between July 18 and July 22, 2024. Hosted and organised by Firesquid Games and HoodHorse, this years TactiCon will feature over 100 strategy games from both established studios and indie developers.
TactiCon will take place on Valve’s digital download platform, Steam. The event will feature a variety of activities, including game showcases, demos, discounts, panels, and developer livestreams, all accessible through Steam.

I’m most looking forward to getting my hands on the demo for Tempest Rising, a classic real-time strategy game drawing inspiration from iconic titles such as Westwood Studios’ Command & Conquer, and StarCraft. The game offers three distinct playable factions: the Global Defense Forces, the Tempest Dynasty, and a third, yet-to-be-revealed faction currently referred to as the Tempest Mystery. Each faction is designed with unique, asymmetrical playstyles to enhance strategic diversity. The game’s user interface features a sidebar for primary navigation and control, and the core gameplay revolves around base building and resource collection. We’re excited to cover this game in a future article.
