What can I do if my partner sits back and does nothing in co-op?

There's this friend of mine I play RTS games with. He is decent when it comes to 1v1 but when we play co-op he just sits back and does nothing while I fight the whole war by myself.

It is so annoying because the only time we win is when I solo the enemy, if don't we are doomed. I don't want to cut him off from playing with me since he's a good friend of mine.
Is there a way I can make him actually do something when we play co-op?

Good friend or not, tell him to get his mind into the game and do something. If you aren't having fun, then there is no point.

It's always better to talk to your partner about it. It's so simple. Just let him know how he is not partaking in the game can make you guys lose out. It's also good for you to assign tasks to each other. That way, everyone has jobs or responsibilities.

It could be that he doesn't understand the game. You can teach him some basics like showing him how to build, scout, or even defend. This will make your partner feel important. He’s likely to take part in the game more if he knows what do to partake in the game.
