You have to get your map control right. This is where you take the better position because when you have the best spots, controlling them will significantly impact your economy and overall power against your opponents.

When I was new, I focused on gathering resources, building the economy, establishing defensive perimeter, and expanding territory. I believe new players should also focus on training an army, learn tactics like micro-maagement and macro-management, and counter strategies.
