Do you see any risk in letting kids play real time strategy games? How young is too young to let a kid play strategy games. I know a lot of kids as young as 7 years old have started playing Minecraft and Roblox, do you think it would be appropriate to introduce RTS games for 7-8 years old kid, or do you think we need to wait until the kid is 9-10 years, or even older, to be able to play RTS games?

There is a right age for children to play certain games. If you discern that your child is too young to be involved in such game that has arms and violence, then you should restrict it. Generally, if a child is not a teenager, RTS is not recommended.

Kids can start playing RTS video games at the age of 6 years. This is because there are many of such games which will teach them a lot. For example, simple RTS games like LEGO Battles or Pikmin will do good for kids.

RTS games are good in so many way which is why it's a good game which kids can play and learn. It's a kind of game which you don't have to worry about the negative impact it's going to have on them like games such GTA and its likes will do.

RTS games like LEGO Battles and Pikmin are very good for kids. Which other RTS games do you consider best for kids to play?

Most RTS games are complex and may be challenging for children to understand. In addition, some of these games feature mature and violent themes, which may damage their mental health. It is essential to attend to your children as they play RTS games and choose games that are appropriate for their age. When kids reach the age of 9 or 10, you might want to consider letting them play under supervision. Choose RTS games that are engaging and age-appropriate. Read reviews before you buy an RTS game.

I have not played Northgard but I frequently hear that this is best RTS games for kids. They say it is also good for entry level gamer (someone who wants to try RTS for the first time)

We have had discussions elsewhere about the positives of RTS gaming. Critical thinking, decision making. This can benefit children and it's not like they're not exposed to worse experiences, is it?

As long as its not blood and gore I don't see the issue.

Let the kids play, man! Lego Battles and Minecraft Legends are as kiddie friendly as they come.

My kids won't play any game as long as they are not up to 16 years. I want them to focus on academics before that age, and once they hit the age, they are free to begin to play any game that they want.

Do kids have access to porn sites and all the madness that goes online on social media platforms? The answer is YES!

They are better off with playing RTS games than all of crap they have access to. With RTS games, they will sharpen their critical thinking and be good in decision making.

My kid was playing Roblox and Minecraft before 7. They didn’t really get into Minecraft legends to much but I’m not against them playing a RTS content permitting.

As soon as the kid can use computer reasonably. I think 5-6 would be a nice age. My perception is that RTS gaming will help your kid grow in terms of strategizing and management. I would say RTS gaming is the best kind of gaming to add some skills/growth to yourself.

Real Time Strategy games need a great deal of cognitive ability to be able to play. And before a child should be introduced to RTS games, they should have demonstrated a strong ability to coordinate and solve problems. I believe that a child of 7 to 8 years old would do well playing Real Time Strategy games and it would help such a child develop multi tasking ability.
