Sometimes I play a game like one of the entrants to the Age of Empires series and wonder if there is any historical accuracy behind the lore. I know games like those in the Crusader Kings series model the feudal system for the time period they are set in in great detail. I particularly enjoy the hierarchies of nobles and complicated laws of succession and the like. While this is not a completely accurate representation of the systems in place in that time period, this game does a much better job than others, with many people saying it is far more accurate than many other games set in this period. So, does historical accuracy matter to you, and what RTS games have you encountered that are accurate or close to being accurate for their time periods?

While historical accuracy would definitely make gameplay a lot more fun and educational, but it does not really matter to me if it's accurate or not. I think it is also fun knowing that I can also create my own history.
