Among all of the RTS games which you've played, which one's among them have been the worst when you're considering how bad the game's graphics came out? Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War-Soulstorm was the worst in terms of poor graphics I played in 2008.

Did the poor graphics of the game stop or limited how far you would have played the game?

Generally speaking, most RTS games have poor performance, I belie these games are too demanding. I play Iron Harvest on PC and I find graphics very poor. I like Grey Goo but I do not think the game has the best performance. 8-Bit Armies is another good RTS but looks overly simplistic and lacking in visual depth.

I think it might be the PC. Even turn based strategy games require a good gaming laptop in order for you to have a seamless experience. Maybe if you try it on console it will be different.

To be honest, the game’s graphics are not necessarily bad. Given that this is a classic game, it is not surprising that the graphics were not as good as the new RTS games. If you played it today, you'd find the graphics are not really sensational. The game I am referring to, Total Annihilation, was thought to have good visuals when it was released. That is why, despite the obsolete graphics, I still appreciate Total Annihilation and do not compare them to new RTS releases.

I don't agree with you. Most Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games do not necessarily have poor graphics. Gameplay might be different but that doesn't have most of them to be generalised as being with poor graphics.

Well, let me put this another way around. RTS games are quite demanding on hardware, as you will have to do a lot of real-time calculations, combat simulations, and resource management. The games that feature massive battles, which can put a lot pressure on your system resources, leading to poor performance.

This is true. The mechanics involved in building most of the rts games need it to be played on the best devices such as a good PC. So, ensuring that you play your game on a nice device can in turn help with the graphics coming out better.

To be fair, most RTS games of about 2 decades ago really didn't excel much when it comes to graphics. Have you played Dark Reign: The Future of War? Some gen z gamers might cringe.

Well, as I have recently played some classic RTS games, I could say that those are the ones with the worst graphics I have seen. I would say that it was a game called Zeus that I played a short time ago.

I have not played Zeus, but some of the reviews that I read from other gamers considering this game doesn't look encouraging at all.

You are right though, but I guess everyone has their own definition of graphics. Most people might consider cartoon like graphics as poor, since they prefer graphics that contains more details and looks more realistic.
